Luis Gutierrez
The 2023 Gratallops is from an incredibly dry year in Priorat, when they had to really think about how to make the vines survive (irrigation!) with only 43 liters in the first four months of the cycle. It`s lively and fruit-driven, and Álvaro Palacios says, "[It`s] a miracle for the year we had." 2023 was juicy and soft, mellow and clean, Mediterranean with notes of aromatic herbs. They had to irrigate some of the vineyards to keep the yields. It has 20% Cariñena, and they produced wine with seven vineyards instead of the usual 13. It is a fine and elegant vintage. They expect to fill some 12,500 bottles around May 2025, because they keep the wine in concrete after the élevage in oak. 93-95 points
