2022 Jean Grivot Nuits-St-Georges Boudots

For the first time the Boudots is half young vines and half old, so needs to be picked earlier than in the past. A bright mid purple, there is an impressive intensity to the fruit, half red berries, half darker raspberry, half Nuits and half Vosne. This is not too bulky, too massive, but entirely harmonious with a long fine and fresh finish. 93-96 points

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru comes from a vineyard comprising very old vines and the first fruit from new vine plantings. The expressive bouquet has blackberry, blueberry and light crushed stone aromas, with hints of white flowers emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied and quite understated compared to the Roncières. I just discerned a slight, nagging greenness on the finish that hints at blocked maturation somewhere. I will be cautious for now. 88-90 points
