Planted in 1973 and looking good. Gilbert now picks this plot rather later. One third whole bunch. Mid crimson purple. The oak is a little apparent, but the sample was taken from a new barrel. The village wines are 50/50 for the most part. Clearly the wine has considerable intensity without losing its Chambolle character. Drink from 2030-2036. 91-93 points

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes has 20% whole bunches this year. This is nicely composed on the nose with pure, expressive, well-defined red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, and the 30% new oak is neatly enmeshed, just losing a little concentration in the final third as it tapers in slightly. But it will fill it with further time in barrel. 88-90 points

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes has turned out especially well, offering up pretty aromas of raspberries and cherries mingled with notions of violets and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a pure and succulent core of fruit, lively acids and a mineral finish, it`s suave and harmonious. 90-92 points
