Velvety tannins and a kick of brushed damson and cherry chocolate on the nose, a pretty glamorous Graves that could definitely be mistaken for a Pessac-Leognan. Impressive on the palate also, juicy acidities that keep the fruit elevated, ripe fruits with balance. This is a delicious unfussy wine, and no doubt good value also. 30% new oak. 93 points

The 2022 Chateau de Ferrand (not to be confused with a similarly-titled Graves estate) was harvested from 5 September to 5 October at a respectable 44hL/ha. This is focused and fragrant on the nose with a red and black fruit mixture. Fig and espresso aromas in the background lend more complexity. Nice terroir expression. The palate is undoubtedly fresh on the entry with supple but fine tannins that frame predominantly red berry fruit laced with tobacco and black pepper. There is a convincing sense of build on the finish, completing a very promising Chateau de Ferrand. 92-94 points

The 2022 de Ferrand shows promise, offering up aromas of dark berries, preserved plums, licorice, burnt sage and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and layered palate with a deep core of ripe fruit framed by rich, powdery tannins that assert themselves with chalky grip on the finish. It`s a blend of 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Franc. 91-93 points
