2021 Newton Johnson Pinot Noir Seadragon

The 2021 Pinot Noir Newton Johnson Seadragon comes from a vineyard where around 60% has been replanted to improve on the original planting material that used Dijon clones and some leafroll. This has a very fragrant bouquet with rose petal infused red fruit, Morello cherries and wild strawberry. This is generous, slightly Tuscan in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins on the entry and fine acidity; the 2021 is more structured towards the second half with a fine sappiness that comes through. The 36% new oak is neatly subsumed on the finish. Very fine. 92 points
