The 2021 Viognier was aged for approximately five months in 20% new French barriques (one-third each of new, second and third-use barrels). It comes in at 13.8% alcohol. This is sourced from vines averaging 20 years of age. Concentrated and still exciting for the fine aromatics, this finishes well too. It lingers nicely, and it is pretty tasty. It seems substantial, but never stolid. Admittedly, in its youth, some of the flavor is wood-derived, but this is beautifully balanced. It is a perfect food wine now, and it should improve over the next year or two. It will then hold for another five years, maybe more. Let`s be a little conservative and take that in stages, but this is another fine Viognier. It drinks great now, by the way, and that is a hint. 91 points
