Neal Martin
The 2020 Volnay Clos des Chenes 1er Cru has (yet another) beautifully defined bouquet with black cherries, briary, crushed stone and pressed iris petals, unfolding with each swirl of the glass. You could nose this all day! The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly sappy entry, quite dense, grippy and voluminous, tapering slightly towards a cohesive and quite elegant finish. Utterly refined. 92-94 points
