Dry-farmed vines at 580 m in Sitia, eastern Crete. Vines planted on own roots in the 1930s. Fermented in oak with indigenous yeast. No temperature control and no fining.
Mid cherry red. Liatiko colour is always quite mature-looking. Seductive aromas of tangy red cherry, light spice, with a lively playfulness in a seriously structured wine. Marked tannins and acidity suggests this needs time but the balance is already very good. If you drink it in the next year or three, do so with food. There`s an underlying power in this wine, which is more obvious on the finish, which is tannic and dry and very fresh. Needs time to show its full potential – Liatiko needs time but this has everything for a long and complex future. 17+ points
