The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village does not quite have the expressiveness of the Morey Village on the nose and demands more coaxing, a little broody and sultry at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit with touches of sous-bois and white pepper. Lovely balance here and the precision on the finish compensates for the bashful aromatics. It will need 24 months once in bottle and fingers crossed the nose will step up a gear. 88-90 points

I thought that the village Gevrey-Chambertin showed a ripe fruit profile when I tasted it, but in fact the degree is a very manageable 13.1%. Fine mid purple, riper fruit here and some deep very ripe strawberry, with plenty of flesh on the palate. 88-90 points
