The 2019 Barolo Cannubi is a very pretty if somewhat subdued, Barolo. The aromatics are quite enticing, but on the palate the 2019 feels a bit clenched and not at all forthcoming. There is something attractive about its classical austerity and yet the Cannubi is easily the most reticent of the three Barolos in the range. 92+ points

Available in numbered bottles, the 2019 Barolo Cannubi shows ripe fruit with aromas that recall dried cherry skin or plum. That ripeness gives this wine a slightly heavier approach with sweet notes of almond paste, white chocolate and licorice. Some 16,000 bottles were made, but some of the wine was put aside; and we can expect a Riserva edition of this vintage to be released in 2025. 93 points
