The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées Clos St. Abdon 1er Cru came across a little subdued on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is well balanced and feels approachable, a Chassagne that will not require too long in bottle and should be consumed earlier than others. 86-88 points

Clos St Abdon now appears on the label (since 2017). The vines were planted in 1976, but are being renewed in stages. Philippe Colin thinks he has made progress here. Light yellow touch, bit of toast here, a bit of smoke, then some livelier fruit behind, no more than middleweight, but with good length. 90-92 points
