Cyprus` native Xynisteri grape variety can make wines that tend towards the fat and flabby, but not when it is cultivated in Europe`s highest vineyards. Situated at an absurdly high 1,400 meters in the Troodos Mountains on the centre of the island, Kyperounda`s Petritis is a bright, pure wine, full of mountain flower, pine and citrus fruit, and a satisfying creamy richness towards the end of the palate. I am also reliably informed that it develops beautifully with a year or two of bottle age, and look forward to confirming. (NT 08/03/22)

Jancis Robinson
Full bottle 1,305 g. This was a wine, from the highest winery in Europe at 1,400 m, that I chose as wine of the week back in 2013. Based on the dominant Cypriot white wine grape Xinisteri, but given some barrel ageing. The grapes, which ripen very late because of the elevation, are given 10 to 12 hours` skin contact before fermentation in tank. Malo was suppressed and 20% of the wine was given a couple of months in new oak. There are two additional bottlings in 2019: Anatoli, strictly from the east-facing vines, and Dysi, from those that face west. Light nose with a palate full of quite rich fruit and a finish that suggests a hint of passion fruit (this is a wine that`s not short of acidity). Already fun to drink, and a versatile wine to be drunk alone or with a wide range of dishes. 16 points
