Neal Martin

The 2019 Côte de Nuits Village is a blend of nine lieux-dits and represents half the domaine’s production. It has a ripe, opulent nose of crème de cassis and blueberry aromas, the 45% new oak tangible at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet tannins, a lot of sucrosity and a candied finish. I would just like more Pinot character here. 85-87 points

From 9 different lieux-dits. 45% new wood. The future new cuverie will enable him to separate out some of the lieux-dits. For now he only has large cement tanks. The nose is a bit more interesting here, with a more subtle deep cherry fruit, alongside its oak. A solid line of deep red fruit across the palate, once again with the best coming at the back. Darker fruit there, light chocolate notes, but the fruit stays fresh alongside. Good length. 88-90 points

A very ripe and exceptionally earthy nose combines notes of plum and violet with those of underbrush and forest floor. The generously proportioned and round medium-bodied flavors possess fine richness and solid size and weight while exhibiting reasonably good depth and persistence on the balanced finale. This is perfectly good but lacks a bit of energy. 87-89 points

The 2019 Côte de Nuits-Villages offers up aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums, complemented by hints of sweet spices and loamy soil. Medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy, it`s generous but balanced, with a seamless, gourmand profile. 90 points
