Rich purple colour medium to full intensity. Concentrated fruit on the attack also, this is clearly going to need longer to come around than Castéja`s other Pomerol wine La Croix du Casse, and should be given at least six to eight years before really seeing these tannins soften and the brambled fruit reach is full potential. Coffee bean and brownie flavours fill out the mid palate and overall this is a powerful, tightly controlled wine with great potential. 93 points

The 2019 Domaine de l`Eglise has quite a high-toned nose that needs more complexity, all upfront black fruit but I am seeking more terroir expression and Pomerol DNA behind it. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins, a "solid" mid-palate with fine grip and a lightly spiced, conservative finish. Not bad overall, though I would like more panache and precision. 89-91 points
