2018 V Dureuil-Janthial Rully Meix Cadot VV

The 2018 Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot Vieilles Vignes is another sublime wine from Vincent Dureuil; and as ever, this cuvée, from vines planted in 1917, possesses an additional dimension that sets it apart from the very fine younger-vine bottling. Mingling aromas of fresh apricot, peach and golden orchard fruit with hints of beeswax, nutmeg and orange oil, it`s medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, girdled by lively acids and underpinned by chewy structuring extract. Long and penetrating, this is one of the wines of the vintage in the Côte Chalonnaise. 95 points

Vincent Dureuil makes two cuvées of Le Meix-Cadot from a vineyard that sits on Rully`s so-called second terrace. This is the one produced from an east-facing parcel that was planted in 1920. It`s the slightly more exotic wine of the duo, with leesy, buttery concentration, aromatic 20% new wood and a zesty, precise, palate-cleansing finish. Effortlessly well balanced. 93 points
