Arguably the very finest of the St-Aubin premier cru vineyards, on a steep south-facing slope with thin, rocky soil. 25% new wood. Citrus fruits complemented by a rich touch of banana and pineapple, and a yeasty, leesy note. Forceful attack in the mouth. Beautifully textured, and a very long, lingering finish. I don’t remember this wine every being so good before – this is brilliant. (NT 09/01/20)

A sizeable 2ha holding in both parts of the vineyard, plateau and slope. Pretty and light colour, with a classy nose which takes a little coaxing. Ripe fruit picked at the correct moment. Then richer and riper than expected on the palate, a touch of passion fruit following on from the pears, but it doesn’t feel that it has been pushed too far: just a generous, attractive wine. 90-92 points

The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes from a parcel that has the same orientation as La Chatenière, albeit with more limestone – and that is clear for all to see on the nose: crushed stone, almost flinty in style, very well delineated but a little aloof at the moment, with Puligny-like pretentions. The palate is extremely well balanced with fresh lime, elderflower and citrus notes. Harmonious and persistent in the mouth, although this year I have a preference for a couple of the other high-performing Saint-Aubins. Still a lovely wine, though. 91-93 points
