2018 Marc Colin St-Aubin Charmois

Secondary Description
Interesting and complex. Proper vivacity, live, energetic. It has got a bit of mid-palate gunflint as well as a milky, biological character that reminds me of sake. Saltwater salinity, lemon fruit and green apple, then a touch of pencil wood. Delicious and thought-provoking! A very good vineyard which borders Chassagne-Montrachet premier cru Les Chaumees. Jasper Morris

Pale fresh lemon and lime colour with a little white fruit on the nose. Floral and pure, racy white fruit, excellent backbone here, fresh long finish with some light citrus notes. 89-92 points

Neal Martin

The 2018 Saint-Aubin Le Charmois 1er Cru, which comes from vines located on an east-facing slope on limestone-rich soils, has a strict, austere and utterly compelling bouquet that would embarrass many more expensive Puligny-Montrachets. The palate is an absolute joy with pretty citrus fruit intermingling with peach skin and spices, but it’s the mineral drive that takes over toward the finish and says, `I own this wine.` Brilliant. 92-94 points

William Kelley

Mingling aromas of pear and fresh peach with hints of mirabelle plums and fresh pastry, Colin`s 2018 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Le Charmois is medium to full-bodied, charming and expressive, with succulent acids underpinning an open-knit core of generous fruit. This hails from an easterly exposed site planted in 1982. 90-92 points
