Pale lemon colour. Here the yield was a paltry 28 hl/ha for a balanced 13.5%. The nose has power but does not show the alcohol. Significant weight, a little bit of liquorice, I would not want it to be riper or more concentrated than this, but it works well with a long strong finish. 89-91 points

The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières Blanc 1er Cru, which had been bottled, has a tightly wound bouquet with pressed flowers and light orange zest aromas mixed with a hint of almond. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and slightly waxy in texture, revealing tangerine and a light almond/hazelnut note toward the finish. Drink over the next five or six years. 89-91 points

The 2018 Nuits St. Georges “Perrières” Blanc from the Gouges family is also lovely in this vintage. The wine is a bit more reserved in personality than the already delicious Bourgogne, offering up a complex and very pure blend of white peach, fresh almond, salty soil tones, spring flowers and just a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and complex, with a good core of fruit, fine focus and grip, sound framing acids and good backend mineral drive on the long finish. This will want a couple of years in the cellar to allow its secondary layers to emerge, but it will not need too long before it really starts to drink beautifully. Drink 2022-2040. 91 points
