2018 Grosbois Chinon Gabare

Secondary Description
Both svelte and suave, this is a seamless Chinon of complexity and fine tannins. If what you like in Cabernet Franc is the rasp of unripe green capsicums then seek elsewhere. This is red berries, blackberries and depth. There is richness from the warm vintage, but freshness too. Made and matured in cement this shows a pure side of Cab Franc. Nicolas Grosbois has made a range of wines from his varying terroirs and this has presence concentration. It is a delicious wine to drink now, but will undoubtedly continue to develop positively for at least another five years. (CW 12/04/21) Very classy Cabernet Franc, seductive aromas of red cherry and blueberriers on the nose. The palate is elegantly soft with red and dark berries, a hint of spice and a subtle earthy character, althought the wine is very much fruit driven. Fine grained tannins and well integrated acidity give way to a long, pleasing finish. Silky and devine. (DS 06/01/22)

The 2018 Chinon Gabare is a soft, round, full-bodied wine. While it’s ample in its waistband, it`s not heavy. Easy to like with absolutely no angles and an almost slip-like texture. Fine acidity keeps things fresh and shapely. 88 points

From 40-year-old vines and aged eight months in concrete tank. Inky purple. The nose is fruity but elegant, revealing spice and pepper at the edges. Round and juicy on the palate. There’s something pure and clean here, linear, with just a hint of chalk to carry the finish. Attractive and elegant. 91 points
