The fruit for Ghislaine’s Bourgogne Rouge comes from around Gilly-les-Citeaux, on the other side of the route nationale from the village. It may have been a warm year, but there is no sense of heat here, although it is fuller than in many vintages. Raspberry, cherry and strawberry aromas, and a black tea. Quite structured. As ever, this is a Bourgogne Rouge that will only just be getting into its stride when others have faded. (NT 09/01/20)

Ghislaine Barthod offers just one Bourgogne Rouge, labelled however as Bons Batons in some markets. The 2018 displays a dense purple colour, with rich deep raspberry fruit, a fine burst of energy on the palate, and some acidity, leading to a nicely balanced, even elegant finish. 88 points
