Spice, wood, quite a bit of acid, medium purple fruit. Fresh and cool, also surprisingly full-bodied for a Chambolle. While acidity was in some ways low in 17, Romain told us that low levels of malic acid were then compensated for by salicylic acid brought by the yeast. Nature has a way of making up deficencies, if you let it - that is certainly Romain`s philosophy. Make sure the vines are well looked after, and don`t meddle too much in the winery. (NT 21/02/19)

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a transparent bouquet of lifted dark cherries and crushed strawberry, along with a touch of fish oil in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with gently grippy tannin and nicely balance, though it probably needs a little more substance toward the finish. Gentle and unassuming. 88-90 points
