The maiden 2017 Pinot Noir comes 60% from Walker Bay and 40% from Elgin, 30% whole-bunch-fermented with 25% new oak. It has a clean, precise bouquet of cranberry and raspberry preserve aromas, the oak nicely integrated. The palate has a sappy entry, quite grippy in the mouth, perhaps not quite as refined as Lismore’s Chardonnay’s, but the Pommard-like structure on the finish is satisfying. Good potential. 89 points

Now into its second vintage, Lismore’s blend of Elgin and Walker Bay fruit saw more whole bunch fermentation (30%) in 2017. Elegant, floral and savoury, it has charming rose petal and wild strawberry notes and some underlying spicy grip. Drink 2019-23. 92 points

30% whole-bunch fermentation. Fruit from Elgin and Walker Bay. Stunningly vibrant red fruit with iodine and black cherry. Very savoury but with succulent perfume too. Delicious stemmy element gives freshness and herby complexity. 17.5 points
