Riviera Ligure di Ponente
The Riveira Ligure di Ponente DOC in western Liguria, near the French border, is not a big one; in fact, it occupies less than 30 hectares. Filippo Rondelli`s vineyards are here on a particular stretch of white clay, hence the estate name Terre Bianche. The joy of Italian wine is the proliferation of local grape varieties, and Pigato is a very local clone of Vermentino; this has all the raciness you`d expect of Vermentino, coupled with yellow-fruit ripeness.
