Monica Larner
The 2016 Etna Rosso Rivaggi has that tinge of natural wine intensity with "spalla" or shoulders that are boosted by what I think is a very subtle touch of volatile acidity. It helps to give vertical lift to the tangy, bright bouquet. This wine is fermented with ambient yeasts and sees no filtering or clarification. Dark fruit is followed by wild berry, raw cherry and chopped almond. This is a creative wine with an exciting, offbeat personality. 91 points
