2016 Roagna Dolcetto d`Alba

The 2016 Roagna Dolcetto is a lovely wine with good colour and intensely aromatic. It has Christmas spice and in the mouth the overt red fruits and saline minerality combine to build both frame and body. It has good length and texture. This wine received three months whole grape maceration and no pumping over. When they opened the enormous barrel where fermentation takes place the grapes were still intact. They don`t press the fruit at all, just using the free run juice, with the first and last few litres going onto the Langhe Rosso as a touch of seasoning. What is left they send to be distilled.(CW 4/12/17)
