The 2016 La Tour de By has quite an intense blackberry, briary and truffle scented bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is rounded and velvety on the entry, to the point where I would like more grip. This is plush and generous, quite long in the mouth although I wonder if it has real ageing potential. As such I would enjoy this in its flush of youth. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux. 87 points

As with the 2010, and to a certain extent the 2014, this is a gorgeous, rich, powerful and balanced wine. It was only bottled in June 2018 and yet it`s already tasting brilliant. It has silky tannins but is full of power and flesh, with utterly gorgeous black fruits. This is a wine that you would be thrilled to have in your cellar; delicious! 25% new oak. 92 points
