2016 Arlaud Morey-St-Denis Millandes
Secondary Description
This vineyard is right in the middle of Morey. It has a deeper soil, not limestone but high quality clay. One of the first to be picked every year. The 2016 Arlaud Millandes is a bit more restrained than the village wines but very fine-grained. It`s very mineral, showing quite graphite at the moment. (CW 7/11/17)

The 2016 Morey St Denis 1er Cru les Millandes was completely destemmed and matured in 20% new oak. The nose was reticent compared to its peers, sultry, loamy scents reluctantly offered before going back into its shell. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rigid tannin. This feels firm and correct in the mouth, a little chalkiness to the texture toward the finish where I would like more flesh to develop once in bottle. Not bad at all, though surpassed by the Aux Cheseaux and Les Blanchards at the moment. 90-92 points

Here there is some reduction but not so much as to completely mask the seemingly ripe red berry fruit and earth undertones. The sleek, intense and tension-filled medium weight flavors possess lovely delineation while displaying a subtle minerality on the moderately austere and muscular finish where a touch of rusticity appears. 89-92 points
