Ian D`Agata

Moderately saturated red. Musky nose combines sour red berries, tobacco, marzipan, and mint. Boasts outstanding inner-mouth perfume and focus on the palate, with lovely energy and lift to the mineral flavors of sweet cherry and spices. Closes silky and long, with polished tannins (you really cannot tell this has been aged almost four years in oak). Outstanding Brunello. 94+ points

Eric Guido

The nose is dark and rich, showing ripe black cherry and sweet herbs, with notes of tobacco, hints of mocha, and brown spice. On the palate, soft textures give way to sweet red fruits, showing wonderful purity and finesse, which was completely unexpected following the powerful bouquet that greeted me, as the 2015 Sesti becomes even more savory in the glass. The finish is long, energetic yet clean, with brisk acids making the mouth water, and remnants of red berry fruit and inner florals echoing throughout. The longer I spend with the glass, the more I like it. 94 points

Kerin O`Keefe

Aromas of scorched earth, underbrush and licorice lead the nose along with a whiff of eucalyptus. It`s full bodied, offering dried cherry, prune, star anise and a hint of crushed herb alongside solid fine-grained tannins before a warm finish. 91 points

Walter Speller

Tasted blind. Just mid ruby. Minerally and complex nose that is very slow to open up fully. Elegant, ripe cherry that becomes more tangy and energetic on the finish. Firm tannic grip adding tactile drama. Fabulous, elegant mid-palate weight. 17.5 points

The Sesti 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers rich texture and shapely fruit flavors with plenty of forest berry, cherry, spice and potting soil. This Brunello opens to a very smooth, almost glossy texture with tannins that have already integrated at the five-year point following the harvest. That aged smoothness and silkiness gives this wine immediate appeal. The oak feels well integrated within the more opulent texture of the fruit. 93 points
