From Achinos in northern Greece, not far from the Aegean, comes the winery of La Tour Melas. Founder and owner Kyros Melas adores Pomerol and his vision has always been to create Greece`s finest Bordeaux blend. But not only that; he also values Greece`s native varieties, and his Cyrus One is a seamless meeting of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Agiorgitiko from old vine stock. At first place this wouldn`t seem at all out of place in the Libournais. Look for the Agiorgitiko in the floral topnotes that rise out of the leafy, dark berry Cabernet Franc fruit. (NT 19/10/17)
