Carmenère planted in 1990s as they were looking for a red wine but didn’t want simply to copy neighbouring Valpolicella. Mid ruby-purple. Richly spicy, with some toasted capsicum hints that add nice complexity to the ripe cassis and plum fruit. Juicy acidity beneath cassis and red-plum palate fruit, with more spiciness. Moderate, peppery tannins and fair length. Fun. 16 points
