70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenère, planted on a bradisism – where underlying volcanic activity causes an uplift of land, without erupting – hence the ‘bradisismo’ Italian translation. Now extended the maceration to 25–28 days (instead of 14 historically) for better-quality tannins. Deep purple. Marked oak aromatics of brown paper, vanilla and clove. Rich, spicy black cherry and some dried herb. Chalky oak tannins clash a little with the acidity, but not too badly – and should come together over time. Some pyrazine touches to ripe fruit. Long, primarily oaky finish. 16+ points
