The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Village, which is mostly from the lieu-dit "En Champs" in Brochon, has a forward bouquet with hints of dark chocolate infiltrating the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, the 30% new oak neatly folded into the fruit, linear but balanced on the finish. This is a respectable village cru in the making. 87-89 points

(from En Champs and Les Jeunes Rois). A subtle application of oak frames the exuberantly fresh and cool nose of cherry, pomegranate and gentle earth and humus nuances. There is excellent punch and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that exhibit a touch of austerity on the dusty, long and linear finale. 87-89 points
