2013 Taupenot-Merme Morey-St-Denis Riotte
Secondary Description
This has fresh red cherry fruit on the nose with a touch of spice that follows through on the palate. There is a bit of oak showing but combined with fine tannins. It`s a bit weightier and has some floral character too. It`s also full of gas, which is masking a few things but even so the wine is showing well. (CW 04/11/14)

The 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru la Riotte has a reticent nose at first, gradually unfurling in the glass, quite refined with floral notes accompanying the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and quite intense with tart red cherry fruit mixed with raspberry and cranberry flavors, leading to a harmonious, textured finish. This is an impressive la Riotte that should drink well over the next 12-15 years. 90-92 points

The 2013 La Riotte from Taupenot-Merme is equally fine, delivering a superb bouquet of black cherries, dark berries, espresso, venison, dark soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the
palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and soil-driven, with an excellent core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and plenty of backend energy on the long and classy finish. This too is old vines and they have really produced a refined and complex wine in 2013! 2022-2055. 92+ points
