The 2013 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Grand Cru has more intensity on the nose compared to the Charmes-Chambertin with wild strawberry, blueberry and a touch of iris developing in the glass. The palate is structured on the entry, more withdrawn than the Charmes at the moment, but it has real weight and presence on the complex, slightly masculine finish. This might well be one of the best wines that the domaine has produced from this grand cru. 93-95 points

The 2013 Mazoyères-Chambertin from Domaine Taupenot-Merme is the top wine in the cellar this year, which is not surprising, as this has been the case in every vintage that I have had the pleasure to taste sur place here. The 2013 will be extra special, as it delivers an absolutely stellar bouquet of cassis, dark berries, espresso, black minerality, incipient notes of the meatiness
to come, mustard seed, woodsmoke, a touch of cedar and a nice vein of Mazoyères vegetality
(which I also find often in young Mazis-Chambertin as well). On
the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and extremely transparent this year, with glorious depth in the mid-palate, outstanding
focus and grip, ripe tannins and a very, very long, soil-driven and refined finish. A great wine.
