2013 Taupenot-Merme Gevrey-Chambertin
Secondary Description
This comprises four different parcels of which the average age is 42 years, the same as the village Chambolle. Also, like all the village wines new oak is restricted to 20%.This is more open than some of today`s with a supple, red cherry character and quite some drive. There`s a good mineral edge to the fruit and it has a long finish. (CW 04/11/14)

The 2013 Gevrey AC from Romain Taupenot is also excellent. The bouquet is bright and
quite red fruity and floral this year, wafting from the glass in a mix of cherries, strawberries,
espresso, rose petals, black minerality, mustard seed and a touch of cedar. On the palate the
wine is fullish, pure and tangy, with lovely intensity of flavor, fine nascent complexity, bright
acids, moderate tannins and lovely length and grip on the transparent and classy finish. Great
value! 2020-2040+. 91 points

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a sense of airiness on the nose. There is fine transparency here, very terroir-driven. The palate has a minerally entry, fine acidity, slightly rustic red fruit, with tart cherries popping up on the cohesive finish. This is a decent Gevrey-Chambertin Village that is well crafted, but just lacks a little length. 87-89 points
