2013 Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny
Secondary Description
Two plots make up this wine, the main one is Bussiere next to Morey and a smaller next to Combe d`Orveau and they are co-vinified. Closed on the nose, but the wine on the palate is delicate, light, fine, with good slightly grippy tannins. Persistent, fresh, good finish. Pure. (CW 4/11/14)

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a tightly-knit bouquet with strawberry pastille scents emerging from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite sturdy in the mouth with a mixture of black and red fruit on the inward-looking finish. Speaking to Romain Taupenot, I think this was just a bit withdrawn on the day, but it will be fine by the time of bottling. 88-90 points

The 2013 Chambolle villages was not showing quite as generously as the two wines from
Auxey, as the nose is a bit moderate in its expression of ripeness at the present time, though the
palate is quite lovely. The bouquet is a blend of cherries, red plums, fresh herb tones, a bit of
white pepper, coffee and woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and tangy,
with moderate tannins, good focus and grip and nice length on the youthful finish. I am not sure
if this wine is just a bit late emerging from its malo, or if it will always be a bit on the lean side.
