2013 Taupenot-Merme Auxey Rouge Premier Cru
Secondary Description
This mostly comes from the Duresses vineyard. It is most definitely mineral throughout, with good fruit, nice attack and freshness. It has silky tannins, no visible sign of extraction, being unforced, and is quite long. (CW 4/11/14)

The 2013 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru has a little more intensity on the nose compared to the village cru, though it retains those floral aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. It is a little more masculine and structured than the village cru but it is nicely proportioned on the saline finish. 87-89 points

The premier cru bottling of Auxey-Duresses was also showing very well at the time of
my visit, but is cut from a more reserved cloth and will need a bit more bottle age to realize its
true potential. The fine nose is deeper and more closed than the villages bottling, offering up
scents of red and black cherries, vinesmoke, a touch of espresso, fresh herbs, dark soil tones and
a bit of bonfire in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and youthful,
with a fine core, moderate tannins, good acids and lovely length and grip on the still quite
primary finish. Good juice in the making here. 2021-2045. 90+.
