Antonio Galloni
Salicutti`s 2013 Rosso di Montalcino Sorgente is a wine of nearly indescribable finesse. The purity of the fruit alone is striking, but all the elements are perfectly balanced. Gently spiced, floral notes add nuance in a brilliant, captivating Rosso that shows just what is possible with Sangiovese in Montalcino. The pliant, inviting finish with its expressive red cherry, plum and floral notes, only adds to the wine`s captivating appeal. Proprietor Francesco Leanza takes Rosso di Montalcino to another level in this reference-point wine. The Salicutti Rosso is aged in 500-liter barrels and is made from Brunello-designated vineyards. 93 points
