Made from the native Sicilian grape Nerello Mascalese and grown in ashy, volcanic soils on the steep slopes of Mount Etna. Phylloxera never made it all the way up Mount Etna, and some of the vineyards here are very old and ungrafted. The Nerello Mascalese is naturally late ripening, which allows it longer to develop a distinctively aromatic profile. Etna Rosso is often compared to Burgundy, and it`s not difficult to see why when you get a whiff of this. You can almost smell the volcano here - smoked raspberries leap out of the glass.
