Tom Hewson
Nyetimber’s Pinot-led single vineyard bottling. Such an alluring set of aromas: orange fruit like lightly spiced apricots, something tropical but in a very cool, calm way. Zesty too, very fresh with a little peppery lift and a crystalline clarity of flavour, start to finish. Not quite as creamy as some of the other wines, but that’s no bad thing: it is perfectly pitched between fruitiness and the gentle weight of time on lees. Just a little toasty/roasty edge creeping in, but it is a slow mover. Blink and you could miss this – it doesn’t shout, but it is oh-so-suave. 93 points

A blend of 76% Pinot Noir and 24% Chardonnay that was disgorged in July 2017, the 2013 Brut Tillington Single Vineyard opens in the glass with an exotic bouquet of musky peaches, mandarin, honeycomb and mango. On the palate, it`s medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with good depth and dimension at the core, ripe but racy acids and an aromatic finish. To my palate, this gives Nytimber`s cuvée 1086 a run for its money. 92 points

Pungent and slightly smoky nose. Very mouth-filling and much riper and broader than the average English fizz. Clean and fresh on the finish though it could perhaps be a bit denser. 17 points
