Allen Meadows

From 70+ year old vines. Gentle but not invisible wood serves as a backdrop for spicy and distinctly earthy red and dark currant aromas that possess an unusual yet interesting top note of dried tangerine peel. As is the case with many of the Grivot 2013s the mouth feel of the middle weight plus flavors is relatively fine thanks to the refined if firm tannins that shape and support the suave, powerful and mouth coating finale. This moderately firm and ever-so-mildly rustic effort will also need all of 12 years or so to reveal its full potential. Worth considering. 92 points
