2013 Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny
Secondary Description
The 2013 Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny has, like Cleopatra, a very pretty nose - though in the case of the Chambolle of red fruits. In the mouththe fruit reveals as redcurrant and the attack is lively, fresh and silk. Perfectly ripe fruit in a cool way and alcohol is not discernible. Lovely stuff. (CW 03/11/14)

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Village, which is matured in 20% new oak, has a very harmonious and quite intense bouquet with pure raspberry and wild strawberry scents unfurling. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin. crisp dark berry fruit with black plum and a dash of black spice on the finish. There is impressive length here for a village cru that is compact but focused. 88-90 points

Here the nose of black pinot fruit and floral aromas is more elegant though only slightly more complex. There is good punch and delineation to the more refined medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a dusty and sappy finish. The sense of refinement is enhanced by the fine-grained tannins and this should be enjoyable young if desired. 87-89 points
