Neal Martin

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, which had not been racked, has a light but crisp raspberry and Morello bouquet. The palate is crisp with a fine line of acidity, pretty red berry fruit with a light but focused finish. This should constitute a decent Village Cru once bottled. 85-87 points

Jeremy Seysses noted that it is getting harder and harder to contract for fruit for the Fils et Père villages bottlings, as the succession of very short crops in the last few years in Burgundy has left négociants a bit desperate for supply and willing to pay a serious premium for fruit in the last couple of years. The 2013 Gevrey AC is quite lovely and very red fruity this year, offering up a pretty nose of strawberries, cherries, a touch of sous bois, woodsmoke and a stylish base of soil. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and nicely soil-driven in personality, with suave tannins, fine focus and grip and lovely balance on the long finish. This will certainly be a very tasty bot tle of Gevrey AC with a few years bottle age. 2017-2035. 89-90 points

A very fresh and pretty nose features notes of various red berries, earth and a hint of humus. There is good intensity to the mildly rustic flavors that exhibit an attractive salinity on the slightly lean finish. 86-89 points
