`This isn`t Barbera, this is Pira.` said Luca Roagna as he opened the bottle to taste. It is an old school and 100% from Pira. some planted in 1937 and the rest in the 1980s. They only make an average of 2000 bottles. It is a fresh Barbera and has a big structure, though it`s soft and perfectly ready to go. (CW 4/12/17)

Antonio Galloni
The 2012 Barbera d`Alba is especially polished in this vintage. Fresh, floral and nicely lifted in the glass, the 2012 is quite restrained, with a decidedly red fruit-leaning profile, silky tannins and an overall impression of grace. Readers who enjoy the more understated side of Barbera will adore the 2012. 91 points
