Bourbon barrel - Highland
Delicate and delightful, with notes of meadowflower and an umami tang I associate with sake, this seems properly refined. Glencadam is an old distillery that dates back to 1825, and it is also one of the last surviving distilleries in the Eastern Highlands. While Speyside booms, most distilleries in this area are long since gone. But on the outskirts of Brechin, near Montrose and some 5 miles inland from the coast, Glencadam is turning out a truly fine dram. It benefits greatly from water so don`t be shy about adding a splash. (NT 17/07/19)
