This wine comes from Macedonia in northern Greece and is grown facing a lake at nearly 700 metres altitude. The Xinomavro grape makes wine here that is distinctly reminiscent of Nebbiolo cut with ripe hedgerow fruit. The wine has very good richness and the uncomplicated winemaking allows the quality of Xinomavro fruit, with its quince and seville orange characters, to shine. (CW 07/10/15)

Jancis Robinson
One of only seven wineries in Amyndeo(n). Elevation and lakes help keep it cool. Cold soak and spends time on lees and 12 months in old and new French oak. Moving towards untoasted oak. Dark ruby. Very healthy colour. Top note of appealing bonfire sparks. Relatively firm tannins. Medium body and well-managed tannins. Very appetising. Much more serious than the name Hedgehog suggests! Dry finish and very lively and fruity. Neat and confident. 16.5 points
