The 2010 Brane-Cantenac was picked September 27 to October 14. It remains closed on the nose despite vigorous aeration, although there are shards of light as it reveals gorgeous, stony black fruit and pencil lead aromas, plus a hint of iris. The palate is medium-bodied and incredibly well focused, displaying razor-sharp tannin and a balletic poise from start to finish that belies the awesome structure of this Margaux. It is almost clinical on the finish, completing a stunning Brane-Cantenac that has a long future ahead of it. A benchmark for Henri Lurton. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château. 95 points The palate is medium-bodied with fully ripe tannins, a little conservative on the entry but fanning out beautifully on the tightly wound mid-palate. Judicious use of the fleshy Merlot to balance out the Cabernet, composed and very harmonious towards the “classic” finish. Tasted April 2011. 94-96 points

Purplish crimson with dark hues. Refined fragrant nose of black fruit with subtle overtones. Bursting with fruit on entry - very Château Margaux in style - then revealing a glamorous tactile feel on the palate with sap and subtle notes. It could have done with more power on finish. I did wonder if all the press wine had been added. 91 points

Purple-ruby. Highly c omplex aromas of red plum, cassis, violet, graphite, and cedar. Then focused and suave on the palate, with flavors of pure blackberry, blueberry pie and flint. Finishes with broad, polished tannins and impressive length. This excellent Brane-Cantenac is a highly nuanced and structured wine with plenty of... 92-95 points
