Quinta da Roeda has historically been regarded as one of the finest estates in the Douro Valley, and since Croft acquired it in 1889 it has provided the main component of the house` s vintage ports. In years when Croft do not declare a vintage port, they may choose to bottle a single quinta Roeda port. This 2002 is rich and intense, with notes of chocolate, prune, and sultana, and is in a style suggestive of madeira. A highly enjoyable Roeda, and redolent of the Croft style. (NT 14/10/16)
