2002 Benrinnes, AD Rattray 17 yo 52.5%

Adored as ‘bastard malt’ Stronachie under a different guise, Benrinnes is a highly characterful Speyside. This is oily and honeyed, waxy and full-bodied, overlaid with softer notes of heather and citrus. Triple-distilled, a practice rare amongst Scottish distilleries, and one which Benrinnes themselves discontinued in 2007. This is actually the first bottling of Benrinnes to grace our shelves in its true colours, and mighty fine it is too. (NT 16/07/19)
