Bourbon cask
South, inland and up valley from the town of Elgin one finds Glen Elgin distillery, a classic sort of Speyside distillery that for most of its centenary life has been the heart and soul of the White Horse brand. Somewhat remote, and left stranded when a planned extension of the railway never materialised, the distillery ran entirely on paraffin till the 1950s. This bottling encapsulates a lighter, fresher style of Speyside whisky - floral and pastry notes run together with the fruit and spice of a good Gewurtztraminer. (NT 21/11/16)
